Pitch correction · Fine tuning
When a piano has gone a long time without tuning, its overall pitch can drift too far for a normal fine tuning to remain stable. Pitch correction uses a controlled first pass to move the instrument closer to standard pitch before it is tuned accurately.

About the service
Changing the tension of many strings alters the load across the piano. If a very flat instrument is tuned note by note in a single fine pass, earlier notes can move again as the remaining strings are adjusted. A separate correction pass compensates for this movement and creates a more stable foundation.
The amount of correction depends on the piano’s condition, age and pitch. The appropriate approach is confirmed during the visit; you do not need to diagnose it yourself.
Common questions
No. Pitch correction is the preparatory pass; a fine tuning follows to refine the musical intervals and unisons.
Not always. The decision is based on the measured pitch and likely stability of the instrument.
Often it can, but the condition of strings, tuning pins and structure must be considered first. A practical recommendation will be provided after assessment.
